Job summary

Colliers Project Leaders is seeking an MEP Commissioning Intern for Summer 2027 in Boston, MA. The role involves in-field review of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems on new builds and renovations, with travel across New England.

You will work with engineers and staff to prepare reports, review submittals, and document project activities while developing technical and communication skills in a hands-on internship program.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Architectural Engineering.
• Reliable transportation to the office and project sites across New England.
• Previous intern or co-op experience in commissioning or energy-related engineering preferred.
• Coursework in HVAC, Plumbing, Building Electrical Systems, or Architecture preferred.
• Solid problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Ability to read, write and understand English for job communications.

Responsibilities

• In-field review of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems for new construction and renovations.
• Assist with field observations, detailed field visit reports, and documenting project issues to resolution.
• Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs.
• Read and review mechanical and electrical drawings.
• Ensure all systems and equipment are functionally tested.
• Collaborate with project managers during planning, design, and construction phases.
• Prepare reports and document project activities and data.
• Prepare analyses from collected data.
• Travel to job sites or offices in NY, CT, RI, and MA as required.
• Engage in internship programming and networking opportunities.
