Job summary

SOCOTEC US is seeking an experienced building commissioning engineer in NYC with 6–10 years of experience in construction or design. The role involves leading Cx, RCx, M&V services, and reviewing OPR/BOD to meet energy efficiency targets.

The ideal candidate will review MEP drawings, perform site visits, and generate Cx documents while managing projects from inception to close-out. NYC codes and ASHRAE LEED familiarity preferred, with strong organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or foreign degree equivalent, plus 2 years of training in mechanical systems, building design and construction.
• 6–10 years of experience in the building industry or environmental sciences.
• Familiarity with NYC Energy Code Cx requirements and NYC Building Codes.
• Experience with ASHRAE standards and guidelines and LEED accreditation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Execute Commissioning (Cx), Retro-Commissioning (RCx), M&V and inspection services.
• Review and assist in development of Cx documents (OPR, BOD) to define owner needs.
• Review MEP drawings to preserve energy efficiency and ensure building operation.
• Prepare Cx documents (PFCs, FPTs) for field use.
• Conduct field visits to observe equipment installation and quality.
• Witness and direct FPTs of MEP equipment on site for proper installation.
• Collect data for energy conservation analysis and energy use assessment.
• Prepare energy-related project reports and Cx summaries.
