CMTA, Inc. (formerly AMA Group) is seeking a Senior Project Engineer, Commissioning, to lead building and system commissioning on diverse projects in the NYC area. This hands-on role includes client coordination, field testing, and mentorship toward Project Manager responsibilities.

The position requires a mechanical or electrical engineering background with 4–7 years in commissioning or MEP, and it offers a strong path toward leadership, with LEED/CxP credentials a plus. Travel is required.

Competenze

• 4-7 years of experience in commissioning, MEP design, or building systems engineering.
• Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and building automation/controls systems in commercial or institutional buildings.
• Experience developing or executing commissioning documentation such as commissioning plans (CxP), pre-functional checklists (PFC), functional performance tests (FPT), and issues logs
• Ability to read, interpret, and mark up P&IDs, one-line diagrams, and control sequences
• Comfortable working in active construction environments and coordinating directly with contractors and trades
• CxA, CPMP, or EIT credential a plus; LEED AP with Commissioning specialty a plus

• Prepare technical drawings, spreadsheets, checklists, and data visualizations to support commissioning findings and reports
• Read and interpret mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and controls drawings, specifications, and sequences of operation, including the ability to review and mark up P&IDs and control diagrams
• Travel locally to project sites throughout the NYC metro area, with occasional regional travel as needed

CMTA,formerly known asAMA Group, is hiringa Senior Project Engineer, Commissioning, who will be responsible for performing building and systems commissioning work on arange of both small and large projects.This is ahands-on role that will give the opportunity to lead projects and represent CMTA in all interactions with clients, contractors, architects, and other project team members. In this role, the Project Engineer will receive guidance and mentorship from the commissioning group leader and will be trained to become a Project Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

• Comfortable working in active construction environments and coordinating directly with contractors and trades

• Strong written communication skills for producing clear, client-ready reports

Base Salary Range: $95,000 - $110,000. This role is also eligible for an annual performance‑based bonus. Bonus eligibility and payout are determined by role, individual performance, and company performance, and are not guaranteed.
