Mentorship Program Teacher‑Assistant – Early Childhood Instruction

Description

The Mentorship Program Teacher‑Assistant fosters a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for children, guiding them in educational and recreational activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, implementing, and supervising engaging activities for children ages K through 12, including STEAM‑based activities such as Science, Technology/Trades, Engineering, Art/Allied Health, Humanities, Math/Medicine, and related arts and crafts, sports, academic enrichment, and homework assistance.
• Create a positive, inclusive environment that encourages teamwork, respect, and personal growth.
• Monitor and ensure the safety and well‑being of all participants during program hours.
• Collaborate with other staff members to develop and maintain a structured schedule and program activities.
• Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding children’s progress and any concerns.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, incidents, and program activities.
• Assist in the organization of special events and field trips.
• Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities as required.

Work Environment and Physical Factors

Exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently; physical activity related to children’s sports and activities; basic tool use (hand drill, hammer, shovel, etc.) may be required.

Schedule and Locations

Part‑time, 3–20 hours per week depending on season. Average hours per week: 2–3 during the school year and 10–20 during summer, with possible increases during field‑trip weeks.

Compensation

$15.00 per hour; non‑exempt, casual employment.
