Job summary

West Virginia K-12 Jobs in Beckley, WV invites experienced teachers to mentor beginning teachers for a one-year program. Mentors support the same school and subject/grade, with preference for those who have completed mentor training and hold the Master Mentor Teacher Advanced Credential.

Application Procedure:

Preference for teachers at the same school, teaching the same or similar subject and grade level as the beginning teacher. Mentor must have completed the WV Center for Professional Development's mentor training institute prior to or during the first semester of such assignment. Preference given to those teachers holding the Master Mentor Teacher Advanced Credential. EMPLOYMENT TERM: The Beginning Teacher Mentorship is a year-long experience, completed in the semester increments. The mentor is assigned on a semester-to-semester basis pending the placement of the beginning teacher.

SALARY $300 per Mentor per semester - Job description available from the personnel office

Each Faculty Senate shall have an opportunity to make recommendations on the selection of faculty to serve as mentors for beginning teachers under beginning teacher internship programs at the school (18-5A-5)
