Job summary

West Virginia K-12 Jobs invites mentors for its Beginning Teacher Mentorship program. The role is a contract/hourly arrangement with a stipend of $300 per mentor per semester.

Mentors support beginning teachers at the same school, with priority given to those who completed WV Center for Professional Development mentor training and who hold the Master Mentor Teacher Advanced Credential. The program runs for one year with semester-by-semester assignments; mentors must complete required WV training

Qualifications

• Mentor must have completed WV Center for Professional Development mentor training either prior to or during the first mentoring semester.
• Preference for teachers holding the Master Mentor Teacher Advanced Credential.
• Must be a current or former teacher participating at the same school/subject/grade level.

Responsibilities

• Provide mentorship to a beginning teacher for a year-long program, with assignments on a semester-to-semester basis.
• Support, guidance and observation to help the beginning teacher meet professional growth goals.
• Coordinate with school personnel to place mentors and ensure program compliance.
