Job summary

West Virginia K-12 Jobs seeks a Mentor, Assistant Principal (Kinney) to guide and support a new school administrator in the Taylor County system. The role focuses on leadership development, instructional coaching, and compliance with WV policies.

The incumbent will provide ongoing feedback, observation, and mentoring to the beginning administrator, helping them implement effective strategies and improve school performance for the 2026-2027 year.

Qualifications

• Valid WV certification required.
• Completion of the new mentorship training or willingness to receive the training at the next scheduled session
• Minimum of five (5) years administrative experience
• Satisfactory past evaluations or recommendation of principal
• Knowledge/ability as exhibited through school/classroom experiences in the following areas:
• Understanding of a variety of teaching strategies
• Ability to communicate/listen and share with the beginning school administrator
• Sensitivity to beginning administrator needs
• Demonstrated skills in school management
• Current with the latest research on administration and learning techniques

• Provide emotional and professional support to beginning school administrator per West Virginia State Board Policy 5900 and Taylor County Policy.
