Job summary

Chicago White Sox seek to enhance and implement the Mental Performance Program within the Player Development team, collaborating with PD personnel to promote performance and wellbeing.

You will coach athletes, develop curricula, support injured and international players, and coordinate with EAPs as needed. This role requires licensure or eligibility and a commitment to confidentiality and ethics.

Qualifications

• CMPC or CMPC eligible upon hire - REQUIRED
• Completed Masters in Sport Psychology/Performance Psychology - REQUIRED
• Completed PhD in Clinical Sport Performance Psychology - Preferred
• Current License in Mental Health Counseling/license eligible in AZ, NC, AL, IL - Preferred
• At least 3 years of postgraduate experience providing mental performance services
• Bilingual (Spanish) - Preferred but NOT required or basic knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Assist players and staff through applied mental performance coaching.
• Assist with curriculum development and scalable implementation across the Minor League system.
• Collaborate to enhance mental performance education and wellbeing.
• Support injured players and international staff transitioning to the U.S.
• Refer and coordinate with EAPs and outside professionals for mental health needs.
• Maintain professional credentials and confidentiality.
• Contribute to strategic development of mental performance systems.
• Provide individual and short/long-term support year-round in Arizona.
• Present psychoeducational workshops for staff and players on mental performance.
• Consult and support PD staff, coaches, medical, and performance staff.
• Work within multidisciplinary sports medicine teams.
• Develop initiatives promoting health, resilience and acculturation for international athletes.
• Assess acculturation of international players to inform coaching practices.
