Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, IL is seeking a Mental Health Worker Inpatient to support licensed nursing staff in daily patient care and documentation. The role works 12-hour day shifts, with rotating weekends and holidays, in the Psych Adult/ Behavioral Health unit.

Qualifications

• Current and valid CNA license issued by the State.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire and must remain current.
• One year of mental health experience preferred.
• Familiarity with medical and psychological terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed nursing staff in providing and documenting patient care including activities of daily living.
• Support unit functions and maintain a safe and clean environment for patients, visitors and staff.
• Communicate pertinent patient information to supervising RN and participate as part of the interdisciplinary care team.

Overview

Department: Psych Adult/ Behavioral Health

Schedule: Full-Time, Days, 7am-7:30pm, 12-hour shifts. Rotating weeekends and holidays

Location: Aurora, IL 60506

Responsibilities

Mental Health Worker Inpatient: Under the direction and supervision of the RN, LVN or Charge RN assist the licensed nursing staff in providing and documenting patient care including assistance with activities of daily living. Supports the unit functions and maintains a safe and clean environment for patients, visitors and co-workers; functions as an integral part of the interdisciplinary care team and communicates pertinent patient information to the supervising RN. Performs some clerical duties as assigned and provides basic nursing care for the adult and geriatric patients. Performs responsibilities within the guidelines of the Nursing Structure Standards, Hospital/Nursing Policy and state regulatory and accrediting requirements.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

• Must have current and valid license as a Certified Nursing Assistant issued by the State if a CNA. If not a CNA, a minimum of one year experience working as Mental Health Worker in a hospital setting preferred.
• BLS within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
• One (1) year prior mental health experience preferred.
• Familiarity with medical and psychological terminology preferred.
