The Mental Health Worker establishes a therapeutic relationship with all patients and is responsible for the overall provision and maintenance of a safe, therapeutic environment in the behavioral health unit. Documents on patient activities and interactions with patients. Takes vital signs, weighs patients, and collects routine specimens. Completes various routine unit duties. Ensures patient safety by providing continuous safety checks and 1:1 direct patient observation as needed. Assists patients with ADL’s. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Closely monitors patient behaviors and intervenes as needed.
