Job summary

The UW-Stevens Point Counseling Center is seeking a Part-Time Mental Health Therapist to provide short-term counseling, assessment and crises intervention to students. The role reports to the Director of the Counseling Center and supports education and prevention programming campus-wide.

Starting hourly rate is $50, commensurate with education and experience. This is a temporary fixed-term position offering 15-20 hours per week.

Qualifications

  • Current Wisconsin State licensure or eligibility for licensure as an LPC, LCSW or LMFT.
  • Clinical supervision may be available for individuals working towards licensure.

Job Duties

The UW-Stevens Point Counseling Center is seeking a Part-Time Mental Health therapist to provide short-term counseling, assessment and crises intervention to students experiencing personal, emotional, behavioral, academic or mental health concerns. This position is under the direct supervision of the Director of Counseling Center.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Department: The UW-Stevens Point Counseling Center is currently staffed by 7 permanent clinicians including the Director.
  • Our primary function is to provide individual psychotherapy, group therapy, and crises response to UW-Stevens Point students and education and prevention programming to the campus at large.
  • We are a Counseling Center that affirms diversity, condemns oppression in every form and encourages utilization of our services by all students.
  • To this end, we seek to provide a safe affirming environment for all.
Compensation

Mental Health Therapist part-time (15-20 hours per week) hourly/non-exempt, university staff position. Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting hourly of $50 an hour, commensurate with the candidate’s education, related experience, and qualifications.

Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in counseling, Clinical Social Work, or Marriage and Family therapy
  • Current Wisconsin State licensure or eligibility for licensure as an LPC, LCSW or LMFT.
  • Clinical supervision may be available for individuals working towards licensure.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in higher education mental health setting
  • Experience working with young adults
  • Experience providing clinical care using teletherapy modalities
  • Experience using electronic health records (EHR) systems
Background and Work Verification
  • Special Note: The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act requires the distribution of an annual security report to all current and prospective students, faculty, and staff.
  • Employment will require a criminal background check.
  • It will also require you to supply a minimum of three (3) professional references (one (1) of which being a current or former supervisor).
  • It is preferred that you supply five (5) professional references (two (2) of which being a current or former supervisors).
  • Your references will be required to answer questions regarding misconduct, sexual violence and sexual harassment.
  • Successful applicants are responsible for ensuring their eligibility to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the United States, a lawful permanent resident, a foreign national authorized to work in the United States without the need of employer sponsorship) on or before the effective date of appointment.
