Base pay range

$30.00/hr - $40.00/hr

Licensed Mental Health & Substance Abuse Counselor

The Institute for Rational Counseling of Long Island is a group practice offering individual mental health therapy from qualified professionals. We are looking for licensed therapists to help provide services to those in need via in person and virtual appointments. Our office is located in Suffolk County, NY.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

• Master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or related field
• Current with all state licensing requirements, including LPCC, LICSW and LMFT (no limited permits)
• Independently maintains CEUs needed for licensure to remain active
• Maintains individual malpractice insurance (will be added to group insurance upon hiring)

Therapist Job Responsibilities:

• Meets with patients regularly to provide counseling, treatment and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
• Writing treatment notes and submit to Office Manager within 24 hours of appointment
• Independently checks schedule and manages time accordingly
• Must be able to offer in person and virtual appointments to patients
• If not already on insurance boards, must be willing to apply prior to starting position and attest quarterly
• Establishes positive, trusting rapport with patients.
• Diagnoses and treats mental health disorders.
• Creates individualized treatment plans when needed
• Involves and advises family members when appropriate.
• Refers patients to outside specialists or agencies when necessary.
• Follows all safety protocols and maintains client confidentiality.
• Uses only HIPAA approved communication portals when having contact with patients
• Contributes to practice by accomplishing related tasks as needed.

Work Hours:

• Must be able to offer night hours 1-2 days a week
• Schedule will be determined based on hours available
• Willing to offer In person and virtual appointments
