Job summary

ASun Star is seeking a compassionate Mental Health Technician to support clients with Mental Health/SUD needs. The position involves caseload management, treatment planning, weekly individual counseling, and outreach.

The role offers on-site and telehealth work, with a focus on evidence-based practices and coordination with the behavioral health team. The ideal candidate holds a relevant degree (bachelor’s or graduate with counseling credits) and demonstrates strong communication and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related field; graduate degree acceptable with 12 grad credits in mental health counseling.
• Experience with the counseling process, mental health diagnoses, and local resources.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Proficient with computers and able to work in a team.
• At least 1 year of experience in the social service field.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a caseload and manages clinical records, treatment planning, weekly sessions, and discharge planning.
• Conducts weekly 45–60 minute individual counseling sessions with each client.
• Provides client financial counseling on savings, fines, child support, alimony, etc.
• Oversees group, family counseling sessions and psychoeducation activities.
• Provides crisis intervention using de-escalation techniques.
• Produces monthly statistical reports to assist counselors with program outcomes.
