Job summary

Sierra Vista Hospital is seeking Mental Health Technicians for the Nursing Department. We are looking for Mental Health Professionals to join a team dedicated to serving our behavioral health patients.

The Mental Health Technician functions under the direction of a Registered Nurse, providing continuous patient care and conducting community groups as part of treatment activities. Full-time PM shift is 3:00PM–11:30PM, with requirements including CPR certification and relevant training.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor's degree in healthcare or related field preferred.
• Minimum 6 months of related psychiatric patient care experience preferred.
• CPR certification required; hospital behavioral management training or equivalent before assisting.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous patient care, supervision, interaction and role modeling to patients.
• Work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
• Conduct community groups as part of treatment activities.

Position Summary

The Mental Health Technician (MHT) functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients ranging in age from adolescent through geriatrics. Mental Health Technicians work under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The Mental Health Technician is responsible for providing treatment activities to the patient, which includes conducting community groups.

FULL-TIME SHIFTS ARE:

PM shift - 3:00PM- 11:30PM

Qualifications

Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in healthcare or related field, preferred.

Experience:

• 6 months of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.

Additional Requirements:

• CPR certification required. Successful completion of the hospital’s designated behavioral and physical management training program or equivalent including de-escalation and appropriate use of seclusion and restraint required prior to assisting in the procedures. CPR certification and behavioral management certification must be maintained during employment. May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.
