Job description

Join to apply for the Mental Health Technician - Part Time/Weekends role at Malvern Behavioral Health.

Malvern Behavioral Health is currently seeking part-time Mental Health Technicians to work day, evening, and/or night shifts on weekends. Shifts are typically 12 or 8 hours depending on facility needs. Malvern offers competitive pay and shift differentials.

The mental health technician assists in the direct care and management of patients aged 18 to 26 with medical and behavioral issues, as directed by the treatment team. They help with unit programming to support therapy, leisure activities, and daily living activities, considering the patient's development level.

Knowledge and Skills
  • Understanding of safe, supportive, nurturing, and therapeutic human interactions.
  • Ability to interpret and implement patient care based on program philosophy.
  • Interest in learning, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
  • Leadership qualities, including training new employees.
  • Effective interaction with patients, peers, and families.
  • Ability to follow behavior programs and supervise activities.
  • Knowledge of motivational techniques.
  • Problem-solving and clear communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Regular attendance.

Qualifications

Experience

Licensure/Certification
  • Current CPR Certification (American Heart Association Healthcare Provider).

Physical Requirements

Must be able to perform essential functions, including mobility, lifting up to 50 lbs, and assisting with restraints. Good vision and hearing, emotional stability, and effective communication skills are required.

Work Environment and Hazards

Work in well-lit, ventilated areas with high traffic. Exposure to potential hazards, including infectious diseases and chemical agents. May participate in crisis interventions involving physical risk.
