Meadowview Behavioral Hospital is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Technician (MHT) to support our treatment team in Peoria, IL. Under the RN, you will help create a therapeutic environment, monitor patients, and participate in crisis interventions and group activities.

The role requires CPR and crisis intervention training within 10 days, with shift flexibility and duties including discharge support and door-to-care coordination. Join a compassionate team focused on patient well-being.

Qualifications

• High School degree or equivalent preferred; CNA/NAR required.
• 1 year related experience in psychiatric patient care preferred.
• CPR certification and crisis intervention training within 10 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Accurately record vital signs.
• Report changes to the RN based on observed patient status.
• Follow therapeutic interventions and assist in development/revisions.
• Employ crisis-intervention techniques and lead MHT groups.
• Assist patients through discharge and life adjustments.
• Assist with hospital codes.
• Maintain a safe, clean, therapeutic environment and universal precautions.

As a Mental Health Technician (MHT), you'll be an integral part of our treatment team, providing ongoing care, supervision, and positive role modeling for patients. • Accurately record vital signs
• Exercise judgment in patient interactions and report changes to the RN
• Follow the therapeutic interventions outlined by the treatment team and provide information for development and revision
• Employ crisis-intervention techniques, conduct MHT-led groups, and use facility-approved CPI techniques
• Assist patients through discharge, guide them in adjusting to life changes, and help with personal hygiene
• Assist with hospital codes
• Comply with policies for a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment, practicing universal precautions and responding to patient care priorities.

Your Experience Matters

What we’re looking for:

Education: High School Degree or equivalent preferred; or Certified Nursing or NAR required; Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy, psychology, human services, or appropriate therapeutic discipline preferred.

Experience: One year of related experience, with a knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.

Additional Skill Requirements: Successful completion of CPR certification and crisis intervention training within 10 days of employment, prior to assisting with restraining procedures. May be required to work flexible hours.

Compensation

We are seeking full-time and part-time MHTs. Compensation ranges from $18.00 to $23.00 per hour, depending on employment status, experience, qualifications, and skill level. Join us as our Mental Health Technician (MHT)!
