Job summary

Lasting Hope Recovery Center is seeking a Behavioral Support Specialist to deliver direct behavioral support and supportive services to patients with mental illness and/or substance use disorders. You will help maintain a therapeutic milieu, promote wellness across multiple domains, and work closely with a clinical team to tailor care plans for each patient.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Behavioral Support Specialist, you focus on providing direct behavioral support and supportive services to patients with disruptions in function as a result of mental illness and/or substance abuse. Services are provided with a focus on managing the therapeutic milieu and developing skills for environmental, financial, social, occupational, spiritual, intellectual, and emotional wellbeing. You will work with a team of clinical professionals to implement a care plan that is tailored to each patient's needs. The BSS promotes an awareness and understanding of positive ethical and moral principles consistent with the mission, vision and values of Common Spirit.

• Encourages an environment where patients can solve problems and try out new behaviors while supporting the development of uniqueness and acceptable self-expression in a trauma-informed care setting.
• Provides appropriate emergency care and maintains a safe environment.
• Maintains a secure environment and acts as a resource for emergency situations.
• Provides trauma informed care and supervision to patients needing physical restraints or seclusion room.
• Effectively communicates in a multicultural context using both verbal and written techniques.
• Participates in staff meetings, quality assurance activities, safety, security, and infection control programs, program development and implementation, and all additional training that leadership assigns in order to maintain appropriate communication networks and harmonious working relationships with members of the interdisciplinary team and other departments.

Job Requirements

• Bachelors of Arts required upon hireor Mental Health Tech certificate from either the American Medical Association or National Career Certifiation Board
• Basic Life Support - CPR (BLS-CPR) required upon hire
