What you need to know about this position:
- Our Mental Health unit, housed on the Columbus Regional Health campus, is an 18-bed secure inpatient unit treating adults 18 and older experiencing acute mental illness.
- We provide individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's circumstances and goals.
- As a Mental Health Technician, you play a vital role in patient safety and experience; you are often the first face a patient sees upon entering the unit and the most frequent contact.
- You will work with a nurse to engage patients through activities such as answering call lights, assisting with daily living activities, taking vital signs, and contributing to a safe, therapeutic environment. This may include providing 1:1 supervision, using crisis prevention techniques, and leading patient group meetings.
- The starting hourly rate ranges from $16.65 for a Mental Health Tech I to $17.92 for a Mental Health Tech II. Compensation is based on experience and may include shift differentials and premium pay. Benefits are available for qualifying positions.
- The schedule typically involves two 8-hour shifts per week (16 hours total), with start/end times around 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, including holiday and weekend shifts.
What is required for this position:
- Upon hire, you must have:
- Mental Health Tech I: AA or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or 6 months to 1 year of related experience/training, or an equivalent combination.
- Mental Health Tech II: Bachelor's degree in a behaviorally related field or at least 2 years of related experience/training.
- Within 30 days of hire, you must obtain:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Within 60 days of hire, you must obtain:
- Handle with Care Certification.
- This position involves frequent standing, walking, pushing/pulling, and occasionally using hands for handling objects, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling. You must frequently lift/move over 100 lbs.
