We are currently seeking a Mental Health Technician who will provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment, crisis intervention, and assisting with activities of daily living. The technician must be flexible to work with varied populations including males and females, adolescents and adults, as well as dually diagnosed adults.
To provide direct patient care under the supervision of an RN to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, ensuring their safety and supporting the therapeutic milieu.
Entry-Level Qualifications:
High school reading and writing skills, good communication, confidentiality, and customer service skills. Certification as a nursing assistant or patient care technician, or familiarity with medical/psychological terminology is preferred. Skills in human behavior, psychology, prioritization, and time management are beneficial. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to learn these skills if not already possessed.
Machines, Tools, Equipment
Telephone, shower/bath, AV equipment, EKG, thermometer, refrigerator, radio, blood pressure cuff, vitals machine, housekeeping supplies, copy machine, restraints, first aid items, shredder.
Physical and Mental Requirements
Ability to handle volatile situations, work amidst distractions, move between tasks, and be flexible. Capable of assisting with patient restraints, exerting up to 100 pounds of force, and performing various physical movements. Good visual and auditory acuity required for observation and communication. Work environment is primarily indoor with minimal environmental hazards.
