Job summary

MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital in Tacoma, WA seeks a Mental Health Technician to join a collaborative, interdisciplinary team providing safe, supportive care for psychiatric patients and assisting with basic patient needs.

The position requires CNA-related credentials, BLS/CPR, First Aid, and additional state credentials; pa y scales with experience and credentials, with strong commitment to patient dignity and holistic care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related human services field preferred.
• 1 year experience accepted in lieu of education.
• Must obtain Nursing Assistant Registered (NAR) certification prior to start date.
• BLS certification required if assigned to Navos Hospital; CPR may be obtained onsite for other campuses.
• First Aid training required for Navos Hospital.
• Food Handler's Card required within first two weeks of hire.
• ACCR credential (Washington State Counselor Agency Affiliated Registered) must be applied for within 30 days of hire; may work while pending.
• Credential must be obtained upon DOH issuance; can practice under NAR during DOH process.

Responsibilities

• Support the unit with excellent patient service and clinic management assistance.
• Collaborate with physicians, clinical staff, front office, and clinic management to ensure health care outcomes.
• Perform diverse functions with specialized knowledge and available resources.
• Advocate for ethical, holistic care respecting autonomy, dignity, and diverse backgrounds.
• Maintain a safe, hazard-free environment by observing and documenting patient behavior and unsafe conditions.
• Provide and document interventions in modalities matched to each patient's needs.
