Job summary

Gulf Coast JFCS in Florida is seeking a dedicated team member to support ARTS clients daily, ensuring safety, sanitation and well-being. You will monitor client whereabouts, report concerns, assist with meals, activities of daily living, and transportation in agency vehicles.

Also responsible for documentation, meetings, and crisis intervention as needed. Hours are Monday–Friday, 7:00 am–3:30 pm, on-site in Oakland Park.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience with chronic mental illness and substance abuse co-occurring populations preferred.
  • Proof of CPR, HIV, and First-Aid within 30 days of hire.
  • Working knowledge of DSM-5.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies and crisis situations.
  • Transportation of clients in company vehicles.
  • Ability to provide physical assistance to clients.
  • Ability to lift and/or carry up to 25 lbs as required.
  • Valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance coverage.

Responsibilities

  • Report changes in clients' appearance and/or behavior and any needs.
  • Observe and assist clients at meals, noting dietary restrictions.
  • Transport clients as needed in agency vehicles.
  • Assist clients with activities of daily living as needed.
  • Assist with follow through on treatment goals/objectives per plan.
  • Complete all required documentation.
  • Participate in staff and treatment team meetings.
  • Perform housekeeping activities as designated by supervisor.
  • Respond to emergencies and provide crisis intervention.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Will Do
  • Ensure the safety, sanitation and well-being of ARTS clients at all times
  • Maintain ongoing awareness of clients’ whereabouts
  • Report changes in clients' appearance and/or behavior, needed residential supplies and any areas of concern
  • Observe and assist clients at meal and snack times, noting those with dietary restrictions or considerations
  • Transport clients as needed in agency vehicles
  • Assist clients with activities of daily living (laundry, room cleaning, and showering) as needed
  • Assist with follow through on treatment goals/objectives as indicated in the client’s treatment plan
  • Complete all required documentation
  • Participate in staff and treatment team meetings
  • Perform housekeeping activities (facility cleaning/sanitation, bed and linen care, light housekeeping functions) as designated by shift LPN or Program Director
  • Respond to emergencies and provide crisis intervention
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

What You Will Need
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with chronic mental illness and substance abuse co-occurring populations preferred
  • Proof of certification in CPR, HIV, and First-Aid within 30 days of hire
  • Working knowledge of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5)
  • Ability to respond to special clinical circumstances including emergency and crisis situations
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Transportation of clients in company vehicles
  • Ability to provide physical assistance to clients
  • Ability to lift and/or carry supplies, files, medication, etc. up to 25 lbs. when required
  • Must have a valid drivers' license and proof of auto insurance coverage.
