Job summary

Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Inc. seeks a Mental Health Technician to provide intensive, goal-directed crisis stabilization services for individuals in crisis. You will document accurately, support clients with daily living, medication adherence, and safety, and use deescalation skills as needed.

Required are a High School diploma or GED, 21+ years old, and current BLS/CPR. Driving roles require Kansas license/insurance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Current BLS/CPR card within 30 days of hire or by orientation end.
• Kansas Driver’s License if driving.
• Auto Insurance equal to Kansas requirements if driving.
• Successful passing of KBI, DCF, child/adult abuse checks.

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis stabilization services to individuals in mental health crisis.
• Complete timely and accurate documentation per Health System policy.
• Support clients with daily living, medication adherence, goal management, crisis management, safety.
• Use deescalation techniques when appropriate.
• Interact with clients in a positive, supportive manner.
• Adhere to mission, vision and values of the Health System.
• Maintain PHI privacy and security in all work activities.
• Communicate effectively with patients, teams, and external partners.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Supports clients as it relates to daily living, medication compliance, goal management, crisis management, and client safety.

• Abide by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI).
• Maintain effective communication and professional working relationships with patients/clients and their representatives, team members, contractors, physicians, peers, outside agencies, and the public.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience

High School diploma or GED equivalent

• Must be at least 21 years of age

Required License/Certifications/Registrations

• Current BLS/CPR card from approved provider within 30 days of hire or by the end of orientation, whichever comes first.
• Kansas Driver’s License (if position requires driving)
• Auto Insurance equal to or greater than the Kansas Insurance requirements (if position requires driving)
• Successfully pass KBI, DCF, child abuse check, adult abuse registry, and routine motor-vehicle screens.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Two years or more professional experience in mental health services, crisis response, or a related field.

• Familiarity with community mental health services.
• Basic computer skills.

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
