Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) OHBH in Tukwila is seeking a Mental Health Technician 3 to provide compassionate, recovery‑oriented care under RN supervision. The role supports patients with acute psychiatric and physical health challenges, ensuring safety and adherence to treatment plans.

You will contribute to patient safety and well‑being, mentor staff, and help maintain a therapeutic environment within a multidisciplinary team at Olympic Heritage Behavioral

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Three years of experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting required.
• Ability to de-escalate crisis situations and respond therapeutically to patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care and maintain a safe, therapeutic environment by monitoring patient behavior and de-escalating situations.
• Observe and document patient conditions, vital signs, eating habits, and responses to interventions.
• Communicate changes in patient condition to RN staff and follow treatment plans.
• Orient, mentor, and train new staff on ward tasks and procedures.
• Follow hospital policies, procedures, and applicable regulations and standards.
• Escort and transport patients as needed.
• Monitor ward supplies and equipment; rotate stock to prevent expiration.
• Support unit operations by assisting patients with personal property, rounds, and maintenance requests.
