Job description

Full Time, primarily M-F with additional hours and weekends as needed.

The Mental Health Technician I is responsible for supervising and supporting emotionally and behaviorally challenged children and adolescents in a compassionate and respectful manner. Responsibilities include supervising morning routines, ensuring completion of self-care tasks, and demonstrating counseling and parenting skills to foster trusting relationships. The role requires a strong commitment to child safety and awareness of ongoing developments and concerns for all children in care. Additionally, the position involves developing and implementing individualized treatment plans and unit programs tailored to the children's needs.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree in Mental Health or related field preferred.
  • Experience with acutely emotionally challenged children or adolescents preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred; SCM certification and CPR/First Aid certification required.
  • Basic personal computer skills required.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, flexible hours, and overtime as needed.

Job Duties:

  • Ensure a safe environment by removing dangers and knowing the whereabouts of all children.
  • Build relationships, maintain appropriate boundaries, and role model positive behavior.
  • Demonstrate care, compassion, respect, integrity, and ethical behavior in interactions.
  • Supervise daily routines and assist with self-care tasks as needed.
  • Provide minor first aid and follow policies regarding medication administration, including documentation.
  • Perform clerical tasks, shopping, housekeeping, supply ordering, and other duties.
  • Transport children to and from various locations as necessary.
  • Perform restraints when ordered by a licensed professional, using approved methodology.
  • Participate in treatment planning and daily schedules in accordance with programming.
  • Communicate relevant information to the treatment team promptly.
  • Complete 40 hours of training annually as per regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and organizational policies and laws, including reporting obligations.
