Job summary

Freedom Behavioral Hospital of Monroe seeks Full-Time/PRN Mental Health Technicians to support adolescent patients in a 82-bed acute care mental health facility. You will help maintain a safe environment, monitor patient behavior, and collaborate with nurses and therapists in a multidisciplinary team.

Ideal candidates have a caring, patient demeanor, strong communication, and the ability to stay calm under pressure. Experience in behavioral health or adolescent care is a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience in behavioral health or adolescent care is a plus.
• Ability to obtain, record, and communicate clinical information accurately.
• Comfortable working in a multidisciplinary team and in crisis situations.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision and support to adolescent patients.
• Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment.
• Monitor behavior and communicate observations to nursing/clinical staff.
• Establish professional boundaries and relationships with patients.
• Assist with activities, groups, and therapeutic programming.
• Contribute to crisis prevention and de-escalation as trained.
• Complete required documentation and safety checks.
• Support nursing staff with patient needs within MHT scope.

We are currently seeking Full-Time/PRN Mental Health Techs (MHT) with experience in psychiatric care to join our esteemed team.

Freedom Behavioral Monroe/West Monroe facility is an 82-bed acute care hospital dedicated to providing specialized mental and behavioral health services for the geriatric population. The hospital delivers a comprehensive range of care, including both inpatient and outpatient treatment options, designed to support the unique needs of older adults.

As a valued member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for our patients. In this position you would obtain, record, and communicate important clinical information, and provide clinical services within a multidisciplinary team environment.

Our MHTs play an incredibly important role. You are often one of the staff members spending the most time with our patients—and your ability to listen, encourage, redirect, observe, and maintain a safe environment can make a meaningful difference.

What You'll Do:

• Provide direct support and supervision to adolescent patients.
• Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment.
• Monitor patient behavior and communicate observations to nursing and clinical staff.
• Establish appropriate, professional relationships with patients.
• Assist with daily activities, groups, recreation, and therapeutic programming.
• Help redirect inappropriate or unsafe behaviors using approved techniques.
• Participate in crisis prevention and de-escalation interventions as trained.
• Complete required documentation and safety checks.
• Assist nursing staff with patient needs within the scope of the MHT role.
• Maintain confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries.
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
