Job summary

Columbus Behavioral is seeking a Mental Health Technician to support the treatment team by providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction and role modeling for youths on the unit. The role reports to the Direct Care Supervisor and requires flexibility with hours.

The position emphasizes compassionate care, adherence to protocols, and readiness to work overtime as needed in a non-exempt capacity.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Preferred: degree in psychology, social work, recreational therapy or related therapeutic field.
• Two years of related experience with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques.
• CPR and First Aid certification; completion of HWC within 90 days; overtime/flexible hours may be required.

Responsibilities

• The Mental Health Technician provides continuous patient care, supervision, interaction and role modeling to patients ranging in age from late childhood through late adolescence depending on unit.
• Functions under the direction of the Direct Care Supervisor as a non-exempt staff member.

Responsibilities

The Mental Health Technician functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients ranging in age from late childhood through late adolescence depending on which unit worked. Mental Health Technicians work under the direction of the Direct Care Supervisor. Non-exempt position.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Degree from an accredited college or university in psychology, social work, recreational therapy or appropriate therapeutic field is preferred.

Experience: Two (2) years of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.

Additional Requirements: CPR and First Aid certification and successful completion of HWC within 90 days of employment and prior to assisting in a seclusion/restraint intervention. May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.
