Universal Hospital Services Inc. seeks a Mental Health Technician to join the treatment team in Columbus, Indiana.
The role focuses on providing continuous patient care and role modeling for late childhood to late adolescence on the relevant unit, under the supervision of the Direct Care Supervisor. The position requires a high school diploma, with a preference for a degree in psychology or related field, and at least two years of psychiatric care experience.
The Mental Health Technician functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients ranging in age from late childhood through late adolescence depending on which unit worked. Mental Health Technicians work under the direction of the Direct Care Supervisor. Non-exempt position.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Degree from an accredited college or university in psychology, social work, recreational therapy or appropriate therapeutic field is preferred.
Experience: Two (2) years of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.
Additional Requirements: CPR and First Aid certification and successful completion of HWC within 90 days of employment and prior to assisting in a seclusion/restraint intervention. May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.
