Job summary

Compass Intervention Center in Memphis, TN is seeking a full-time Mental Health Technician (MHT) to join our interdisciplinary team on the 7a-3:30p, 3p-11:30p, or 11p-7:30a shifts. The MHT contributes to total client care and implements therapeutic approaches within a 108-bed behavioral health setting.

The role involves direct patient care, maintaining a safe environment, documenting data, and addressing challenging behaviors with appropriate techniques.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree or relevant college courses preferred in health care, mental health, recreational therapy, education, or human growth and development.
• CPR certification.
• No minimum required experience; prefer one year's experience as nurse's aide, mental health aide, psych aide, or equivalent in rehab/psychiatric settings.
• SAMA training is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care within a multidisciplinary team approach.
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment.
• Maintain accurate and complete data and records.
• Intervene with suicidal gestures and behaviors using proper techniques.
• Therapeutically communicate with patients and help develop social skills.
• Direct/redirect behaviors and respond to impulsivity according to age criteria.
• Recognize and communicate the physical and psychological status of patients.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
