Lakeside Behavioral Health System seeks a Community Counselor/Mental Health Tech to provide direct patient care under RN supervision in a 365-bed psychiatric hospital serving children to seniors in the Memphis area.

You'll help maintain a safe, therapeutic milieu, respond to crises, and support patients and families with education and activities of daily living. Competitive benefits and opportunities for advancement are included.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Psychology or related field preferred; or high school diploma with 1 year direct patient care experience.

Job Description

The Community Counselor/Mental Health Tech provides direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. Primary responsibilities include the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention, individual/family education and activities of daily living for mental health patients.

Qualifications

Job Requirements

Education: Bachelors Degree in Psychology or related field highly preferred; or high school diploma required. One year work experience providing direct patient care with knowledge of direct patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness.

Knowledge: Knowledge of psychiatric group processes, therapeutic relationships processes, age specific growth and development, limit setting and behavior management, crisis management with aggressive behaviors, and CPR training preferred.
