Job summary

Canyon Creek Behavioral Health in Temple, Texas, is seeking a Mental Health Technician - PRN to join the treatment team. The role provides continuous patient care and role modeling to patients across age groups, working under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities include following treatment interventions, observing patients for changes, documenting shifts in condition, and communicating those changes to the charge nurse. Weekend, overtime, and night shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Preferred: Certified Nursing Assistant; Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy, or appropriate therapeutic discipline highly desirable.

• Utilizes sound judgment during assessment and observe and documents any changes in a patient’s appearance, behavior, or ability to work toward treatment plan goals

Position Summary

The Mental Health Technician - PRN functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients ranging in ages from adolescents through geriatrics. All MHT’s work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Preferred: Certified Nursing Assistant; Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy, or appropriate therapeutic discipline highly desirable.

Experience: Minimum one (1) year(s) of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.

Licensure: None

Additional Requirements: Successful completion Handle with Care Training, Service Excellence Training, and CPR certification required. Certifications must be obtained during new hire orientation. MHT’s may be required to work weekends, overtime, nights, and have flexible hours.
