Job summary

Compass Intervention Center, part of Universal Health Services, seeks a Mental Health Technician (MHT) PRN with weekend availability to join our behavioral health team in Memphis. You will support patient care within a multidisciplinary team and help maintain a therapeutic environment.

Qualifications include a high school diploma, CPR certification, and preferred healthcare coursework; no minimum experience required, prior nurse aide or mental health aide is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required; bachelor-level coursework preferred.
• CPR certification required; prior mental health or nursing aide experience preferred.
• No minimum experience required, prior healthcare setting helpful.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care within a multidisciplinary team.
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment.
• Maintain accurate data and records.
• Intervene with suicidal gestures or behaviors using proper techniques.
• Communicate therapeutically with patients and support social skills development.
• Redirect behaviors and respond to impulsivity with age-appropriate criteria.
• Monitor and communicate patients' physical and psychological status.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Mental Health Technician - MHT - PRN (Weekend availability preferred.)

Compass Intervention Center is seeking a Mental Health Tech - PRN with weekend availability preferred . The MHTs play a vital role in providing excellent care for our patients and are a member of the interdisciplinary team who assists in total client care through implementation of appropriate therapeutic approaches.

• Provide direct patient care within a multidiscipline team approach.
• Maintains a safe, therapeutic environment.
• Maintain accurate and complete data and records.
• Intervenes with suicidal gestures, inappropriate behaviors, elopements, etc., using proper HWC technique.
• Therapeutically communicate with patients. Assists in developing appropriate boundaries and helps to develop social skills.
• Directs/redirects behaviors, demonstrating appropriate behavioral consequences. Responds appropriately to impulsivity issues as they relate to age specific criteria.
• Recognize and communicate the physical and psychological status of the patients under their care.
• Completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

Education and Training: High School diploma or equivalent, Prefer bachelor's degree or college courses in health care, mental health, recreational therapy, education, or human growth and development.

Licensure and/or Certification: CPR certification

Experience: No minimum required, Prefer one year's experience as a nurse's aide, mental health aide, psych aide, or the equivalent in a rehabilitation, psychiatric, or similar setting.

Physical/General: Sustain physical activity and remain on feet throughout scheduled shift. Lifting requirements are 50 lbs and SAMA training is required.
