Job summary

Beacon Health System in South Bend, IN seeks a Patient Care Assistant (Mental Health Technician) to support the therapeutic environment under RN supervision. You will assist patients with daily living activities, observe behavior, lead recreational and social activities, and help with admissions, communications with families and staff.

This role requires interpersonal skills, ability to work in crisis, and basic computer skills; nurse assistant certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Nurse Assistant certification preferred.
• Previous clerical or patient care experience desired.
• Psychiatric technician experience or psychology/counseling coursework preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with bathing, dressing, grooming, eating and activities.
• Observe, report significant patient behavior and activities; interact therapeutically with patients.
• Lead or assist with recreational, educational and social activities.
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment and effective communication with the care team and families.
