Job summary

Metropolitan Behavioral Health, a UHS facility in Dearborn, is seeking a Mental Health Technician for the full-time day shift (7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.). The MHT will be an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction and model behavior for patients from preschool through geriatrics, under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in psychology, sociology, social work or similar field required.
• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, social work or similar field preferred.
• 1–2 years of related experience in psychiatric patient care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous patient care, supervision and interaction as part of the treatment team.
• Model appropriate behaviors under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
• Support inpatient services across ages from preschool to geriatrics.

Metropolitan Behavioral Health (a UHS Facility)

A growing 144-bed behavioral health facility – Metropolitan Behavioral Hospital provides a full continuum of inpatient services across the entire patient population, including specialty programs to serve adolescents, adults and older adults, and perform behavioral health assessments 24 hours a day. Additionally, programs for co-occurring behavioral health and substance use issues are offered to meet the unique needs of this patient population. The facility provides a robust outpatient program utilizing a combination of group, family and individual therapy.

Position Summary

The Mental Health Technician (MHT) functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients ranging in ages from preschool through geriatrics. All MHTs work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Qualifications

Education

Associates degree in psychology, sociology, social work or similarfield is required and Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, social work or similarfield is preferred.

Experience

One (1) to two (2) years of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care with understanding of mental illness, preferred.

Work Hours

Day Shift ~ 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. This position that will rotate holidays and work every other weekend.
