Job summary

Universal Health Services in Dearborn, MI seeks a Mental Health Tech (MHT) for full-time daytime coverage at Metropolitan Behavioral Health, an affiliated UHS facility. The role provides direct patient care and participates in a treatment team under a Registered Nurse, serving diverse ages from preschool through geriatrics.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in psychology, sociology, social work or similar field is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, or social work preferred.
• 1–2 years of related psychiatric patient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling as part of the treatment team.
• Support patients across a broad age range from preschool to geriatrics.
• Work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Education

Metropolitan Behavioral Health (a UHS Facility)

A growing 144-bed behavioral health facility – Metropolitan Behavioral Hospital provides a full continuum of inpatient services across the entire patient population, including specialty programs to serve adolescents, adults and older adults, and perform behavioral health assessments 24 hours a day. Additionally, programs for co-occurring behavioral health and substance use issues are offered to meet the unique needs of this patient population. The facility provides a robust outpatient program utilizing a combination of group, family and individual therapy.

Position Summary

The Mental Health Technician (MHT) functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients ranging in ages from preschool through geriatrics. All MHTs work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Qualifications

Education

Associates degree in psychology, sociology, social work or similarfield is required and Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, social work or similarfield is preferred.

Experience

One (1) to two (2) years of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care with understanding of mental illness, preferred.

Work Hours

Day Shift ~ 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. This position that will rotate holidays and work every other weekend.
