Mental Health Tech II, (1E, Adult Detox, 7p-7a Part Time)

We are hiring a Mental Health Tech II at Peace - Louisville, located at 2020 Newburg Rd., Louisville, KY 40205. This is a part-time night shift position (7 PM - 7 AM).

Job Overview: UofL Health, a comprehensive regional academic health system, is seeking a Mental Health Tech II to assist in providing safe, therapeutic care for psychiatric patients in crisis under RN supervision. Responsibilities include maintaining a therapeutic environment, behavioral management, crisis intervention, specimen collection, activities of daily living, and supporting patient treatment plans.

Essential Functions:

  • Monitor and maintain the therapeutic environment
  • Manage and stabilize crisis situations
  • Transport patients and accompany them during tests and discharge
  • Assist with physical exams, safety searches, transfers, discharges, and document use of seclusion/restraints
  • Perform vital signs, oxygen saturation, phlebotomy, and point-of-care testing
  • Support nursing staff and perform basic nursing activities such as ADLs and patient monitoring
  • Complete admission and discharge procedures and assist with environmental organization
  • Provide staffing support to other psychiatric units as needed

Shift Details: 8 or 12-hour shifts, 3-5 shifts per week. Overtime infrequently required.

Additional Duties: Clerical tasks, emergency procedures, safety protocols, participating in quality improvement, ensuring compliance with policies and HIPAA, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED (required)
  • Preferred coursework in social and health sciences
  • One year of inpatient or emergency psychiatric experience (preferred)
  • Completion of recognized Clinical Assistant, Medical Assistant, or EMT training (preferred)
  • Nursing students who completed Fundamentals of Nursing (preferred)

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Valid driver’s license for transport roles
  • CPR certification from the American Heart Association
  • Organizational crisis intervention certification
