Job summary

Valle Vista Health System is seeking a Mental Health Technician for the adolescent unit on a full-time night shift (11:00 pm–7:30 am). The role provides direct care, supervision, and ensures residents safety while promoting hygiene and self-help skills.

Duties include participating in therapeutic activities, transporting residents, and modeling positive problem solving under ANA standards. The position offers full benefits, potential overtime, and opportunities to cover various shifts as needed

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's preferred.
• Six months to one year in a behavioral health setting is preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.

Position Summary:

Mental Health Technicians provide direct care and supervision for residents, assure residents are kept safe, learn and practice appropriate hygiene and self-help skills, and are aware of rules and expectations. Act as a role model for residents, demonstrating effective problem solving and decision-making skills. Assist in providing recreational and therapeutic activities for the residents, transporting residents to and from medical appointments, and assuring scheduled programming is carried out. Perform duties as assigned in accordance with the ANA Standards of Practice for Psychiatric Mental Health Care, and facility mission, values, policies, and behavioral standards. Mental Health Technicians report to the Unit Coordinator under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in psychology or related field preferred.

Experience: Six months to one year of experience working with a behavioral health in-patient population preferred.

Additional Requirements: Must be at least 21 years of age.
