Job summary

St. Louis Children’s Hospital is seeking a dedicated patient care assistant to support nursing staff in caring for pediatric patients. You will assist with daily hygiene, document activities, and help with admissions and discharges as part of a collaborative team.

Under RN supervision, you will perform phlebotomy and basic clinical tasks while contributing to a positive patient experience in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate's degree preferred.
• Earlier experience assisting nursing staff is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with daily hygiene and personal care under RN direction.
• Support direct patient care and follow care plans.
• Assist with admissions, discharges, and treatments as directed.
• Perform general clerical tasks as needed.
• Collect and record specimens including phlebotomy.

Role Purpose

Responsible for performing necessary services in caring for the personal needs, comfort and treatment of psychiatric patients under the direction of the registered nurse.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with daily hygiene including personal care direction, assists with physical activity, meets patients’ nutritional needs, and documents activities as required.


• Implements direct patient care under the supervision of a nurse.


• Assists nurses with admissions and discharges, and assists nurses and doctors with treatments, procedures and examinations.


• Performs general clerical tasks.


• Collects and records specimens, including phlebotomy.
