Job summary

BJC HealthCare's St. Louis Children’s Hospital is seeking a Mental Health Tech to support psychiatric patients under RN supervision.

Responsibilities include assisting with daily hygiene, documentation, and participating in admissions and treatments, with day or night shifts available. Minimum education is a High School Diploma or GED; experience varies, with preferred 2–5 years and CNA/PCT or related backgrounds encouraged.

Role Purpose

Responsible for performing necessary services in caring for the personal needs, comfort and treatment of psychiatric patients under the direction of the registered nurse.

Responsibilities

  • Assists patients with daily hygiene including personal care direction, assists with physical activity, meets patients’ nutritional needs, and documents activities as required.
  • Implements direct patient care under the supervision of a nurse.
  • Assists nurses with admissions and discharges, and assists nurses and doctors with treatments, procedures and examinations.
  • Performs general clerical tasks.
  • Collects and records specimens, including phlebotomy.
