Job summary

St. Louis Children’s Hospital seeks a Mental Health Tech to support psychiatric patients under the supervision of a registered nurse.

This role aligns with CNAs, PCTs, or nurse assistants experience and focuses on patient comfort and care. Responsibilities include assisting with daily hygiene, documenting activities, aiding admissions/discharges, and supporting treatments and exams, while performing clerical tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate's Degree preferred for advancement.

Role Purpose

Responsible for performing necessary services in caring for the personal needs, comfort and treatment of psychiatric patients under the direction of the registered nurse.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with daily hygiene including personal care direction, assists with physical activity, meets patients’ nutritional needs, and documents activities as required.
• Implements direct patient care under the supervision of a nurse.
• Assists nurses with admissions and discharges, and assists nurses and doctors with treatments, procedures and examinations.
• Performs general clerical tasks.
