Job summary

UofL Health is seeking a Mental Health Tech (MHT) to assist in the psychiatric unit under RN supervision. You will help provide patient care, monitor the therapeutic environment, and support crisis intervention to ensure patient safety.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, CPR certification, and a valid driver's license for transport duties. Preferred candidates include those with 1 year of inpatient psychiatry experience and/or formal EMT/MA training.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• College coursework in social and health sciences preferred.
• Completion of a recognized Clinical Assistant, Medical Assistant or EMT training program preferred.
• CPR certification (AHA Healthcare Providers) required.
• Driver's license required for Transport roles.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and maintains the therapeutic environment.
• Identifies, manages, and stabilizes crisis situations.
• Transports patients and accompanies them for tests and discharge.
• Assists with phlebotomy, vital signs, and basic nursing tasks.
• Maintains safety procedures and documentation per policy.
• Performs clerical duties and supports department initiatives.
