Job summary

UofL Health is seeking a Mental Health Tech to support psychiatric patients in crisis under RN supervision, helping maintain a safe, therapeutic environment and assisting with routine care.

Role includes monitoring vital signs, crisis intervention, patient transport, and collaboration with nursing and clinical teams. A High School diploma and CPR certification are required, with preferred EMT/Medical Assistant training.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• CPR certification required.
• Preferred EMT/Medical Assistant training.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and maintains the therapeutic environment.
• Participates in identification, management, and stabilization of crisis situations.
• Transports patients and remains with them for the duration of any tests performed.
• Accompanies patients, and waits with them when appropriate, to discharge transportation.
• Assists with physical examination, safety and contraband searches, transferring, and discharging patients.
• Performs vital signs and oxygen saturation monitoring, phlebotomy and point-of-care testing as needed.
