Job summary

Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center is seeking a Mental Health Technician to work with adolescents in a residential setting. This role focuses on direct patient care, group activities, and maintaining a therapeutic environment to support emotional and behavioral health goals.

The position requires HSD/GED, with preferred bachelor’s in a related field, and background screening plus pre-employment drug testing. A supportive team and career opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• HSD/GED REQUIRED.
• Preferred: Bachelor Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, human services or like field.
• Experience: Preferred six months in residential psychiatry or similar childcare setting.
• Must pass Level 2 Background Screening (AHCA requirements).
• Pre-employment drug test conducted.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and group treatment to youth.
• Support maintenance of a therapeutic milieu and safety.
• Assist with treatment planning and patient engagement.

Palm Shore is now hiring for Mental Health Tech working every Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday (3p-11:30pm).

Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center provides quality mental health care and education services for adolescents, ages 11–17 who are experiencing behavioral, emotional, educational, family and social challenges. The dedicated professionals at Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center provide quality mental health treatment for children. The program establishes healthy behaviors and prepares children to transition back home. Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center is a proud provider for the PatriotSupport Program.

The Mental Health Tech provides direct patient care duties, including group treatment and other aspects of their treatment of psychiatric disorders, behavioral health disorders or related disorders; to ensure the safety and well-being of these patients; to support the maintenance of therapeutic milieu.

Additional Requirements:

• Must be able to set and maintain therapeutic distance with clients; maintain therapeutic boundaries during treatment and following discharge.
• Must be able to read, understand, and follow: policies, procedures, and written treatment plans.

• May be required to work occasional overtime and flexible hours.
• Successful completion of CPR Certification and successful completion of Handle with Care prior to assisting with a restraining procedure and within 7 days of employment.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
• Physical agility to manage patients. Push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and stooping.
