Job summary

Brynn Marr Hospital in Jacksonville, NC, is seeking a Mental Health Technician to provide direct care for children, adolescents, and adults with psychiatric disorders.

The role emphasizes ensuring patient safety on the unit during night shifts (7pm–7am) with every other weekend.) The MHT position requires prior healthcare experience and a high school diploma; a psychology-related bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: High School graduate or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in psychology or related field preferred.
• Experience: Previous healthcare experience required.
• Physical requirements: Medium to heavy exertion and ability to assist with restraints/CPR as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to patients with psychiatric disorders to ensure safety and well-being on the unit.
• Monitor and promote patient safety on the ward.
• Rotate to night shifts 7pm–7am, including every other weekend.
• Engage with patients across pediatric, adolescent, and adult populations.

The Mental Health Technician (MHT) provides direct care to children, adolescents and adult patients with psychiatric disorders, to ensure the safety and well-being of the patients. MHTs have the primary responsibility for ensuring the patient’s safety on the unit.

Qualifications

MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

High School graduate or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree in psychology or related field preferred.

Experience:

Previous healthcare experience required.

Physical requirements:

Medium Work – Exerting 20 – 50 pounds of force occasionally or 10 – 25 pounds of force frequently or an amount greater than negligible and up to 10 pounds of force frequently or an amount greater than negligible and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of these for light work. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree.
