The Mental Health Specialist Sitter (MHS Sitter) is responsible for sitting with assigned patients, assisting nurses with patient safety, providing stimuli, and communicating with all involved in the patient's care. The role includes delivering customer service to patients, staff, and visitors, and utilizing crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques as needed.
Key skills include conducting safe individual activities, strong observation and intervention, proficiency in interpersonal communication, and calm verbal communication with patients and families. CPR & Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification are required within 30 days of employment.
Activities involve walking, standing, sitting, turning, and lifting patients. Visual observation and communication are essential at all times.
