Job summary

Dungarvin is seeking a Mental Health Specialist II to provide direct support to individuals with intensive behavioral and mental health needs. You will use person-centered approaches to promote safety, skill-building and engagement while following treatment plans and crisis prevention strategies.

You will document observations, assist with activities and participate in team trainings in a supportive environment that values professional growth and compassionate care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3 years minimum of experience with individuals with chronic and severe mental illness or a degree in a mental-health–related field.
• Must be 18+ (some programs require 21+).
• Valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance.
• Basic computer skills and ability to use electronic documentation systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support with intensive behavioral and mental health needs using person-centered approaches focusing on safety, skill-building and engagement.
• Follow behavior support and treatment plans, crisis-prevention, de-escalation, and restraints as trained.
• Maintain a clean, safe living environment and assist with daily living tasks, transportation and community engagement.
• Document services and observations using electronic systems (T-logs, Therap, health tracking).
• Monitor behavioral changes and communicate with supervisors during crises or safety situations.
• Assist with appointments, medication administration tasks as allowed, and follow medical/nutrition plans.
• Participate in team meetings, train new staff and model professional behavior.
• Maintain home safety and follow emergency procedures.
