Job summary

Dungarvin inc is seeking a Mental Health Specialist (MHS I) in Bloomington, MN. The role provides direct support to individuals with behavioral and mental health needs, focusing on safety, skill-building, and positive engagement.

You will work with treatment and behavior plans, assist with daily living activities, and document progress using electronic systems. Responsibilities include crisis de-escalation, collaboration with case managers, and adherence to safety protocols.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• 2 years' experience providing mental or behavioral health services
• Must be at least 18 years old; some programs require 21+
• Valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance
• Basic computer skills and ability to use electronic documentation systems

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to individuals with behavioral and mental health needs, using person-centered approaches focused on safety, skill-building, and positive engagement.
• Support individuals according to behavior support plans, treatment plans, crisis-prevention strategies, de-escalation techniques, and manual restraints as trained.
• Maintain a clean, safe, structured living environment; assist with daily living skills, household tasks, transportation, and community engagement.
• Document services, behavioral observations, health concerns, and activities using electronic systems (T-logs, Therap, health tracking).
• Monitor behavioral changes, identify escalation indicators, and communicate with supervisors during crisis or safety situations.
• Support family and personal contacts, assist with appointments, and follow medical and nutrition plans.
