Job summary

Supportive Concepts for Families, Inc. is seeking a compassionate Mental Health Specialist to support residents with trauma-informed care, daily living tasks, and community activities in a Washington, PA program. Part-time hours, paid training, and professional growth opportunities are available.

You will document progress, assist with transportation, budgeting, and meal planning, and help residents build coping skills while upholding dignity and respect in a mission-driven team.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License.
• Experience working with individuals with mental health diagnoses and disabilities.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in English communication, both verbal and written.
• Must complete required training programs.
• Ability to pass background checks and screenings.

Responsibilities

• Implement trauma-informed care principles (Safety, Trustworthiness, Choice, Collaboration, Empowerment).
• Support residents in identifying goals, overcoming barriers, and developing coping skills.
• Assist with activities of daily living, medication support, meal planning, budgeting, and community participation.
• Transport residents to appointments, employment, education, and events.
• Complete accurate documentation and maintain confidentiality per standards.

What You'll Do

As a Mental Health Specialist, you will:

• Implement Trauma-Informed Care principles including Safety, Trustworthiness, Choice, Collaboration, and Empowerment.
• Support residents in identifying personal goals, overcoming barriers to recovery, and developing positive coping skills.
• Assist residents with activities of daily living, medication support, meal planning, budgeting, and community participation.
• Transport residents to appointments, employment, educational programs, recreational activities, and community events.
• Complete accurate documentation, maintain confidentiality, and ensure compliance with agency and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

Required:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License.
• Previous experience working directly with individuals with mental health diagnoses and disabilities.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in English communication, both verbal and written.
• Ability to successfully complete all required training programs.
• Ability to pass Criminal Record History Clearance, FBI Clearance, Physical Examination, and Drug Screening.

Preferred

• Experience in residential services, behavioral health, recovery-oriented care, or human services.
• Knowledge of Trauma-Informed Care and person-centered practices.
• Experience supporting individuals with mental health diagnoses.

Schedule

• Part-Time
• Flexible scheduling based on program needs
• Evening, weekend, holiday, and overnight hours may be required

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and assist individuals as needed
• Ability to transport and accompany residents in the community
• Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
