Job Overview – Mental Health Program Director:

Compensation: $160/hour

Location: Hamilton Township, NJ (Atlantic County)

Schedule: Tuesday to Saturday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Lead behavioral health initiatives with our client as the Mental Health Program Director in Hamilton Township, NJ. This leadership position focuses on overseeing clinical teams, developing mental health programs, and ensuring compliance with professional standards. Key responsibilities include conducting evaluations, coordinating treatment plans, managing medication protocols, and fostering a structured, supportive care environment.

Responsibilities as the Mental Health Program Director:

  • Mental Health Assessments & Treatment: Conduct psychiatric evaluations, mental health intakes, and treatment plans in compliance with APA, NCCHC, ACA, and state regulations.
  • Clinical Supervision & Leadership: Oversee mental health staff, providing guidance on treatment approaches, care coordination, and professional development.
  • Program Development & Compliance: Ensure adherence to national and state behavioral health standards while fostering a therapeutic environment.
  • Medication Management: Prescribe, administer, and monitor psychotropic medications in accordance with state regulations and approved formularies.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Partner with medical and correctional staff to support integrated mental health care and institutional objectives.
  • Staffing & Legal Responsibilities: Assist in hiring, training, and mentoring mental health professionals while managing legal documentation and court appearances as needed.

Qualifications for the Mental Health Program Director:

  • Education: Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in psychology or a medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited program.
  • Licensure: Active, unrestricted license to practice psychology in New Jersey, with DEA and Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) prescriptive authority.
  • Certifications: Current CPR certification required.
  • Experience: 5+ years in mental health services, including 2 years in leadership, with preference for correctional or institutional settings.
  • Clinical Expertise: Strong knowledge of psychiatry, psychotherapy, behavioral health interventions, and current psychological treatment methodologies.
  • Leadership & Communication: Ability to manage clinical teams, develop policies, and collaborate with interdisciplinary staff effectively.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
