Job Title: Mental Health Professional

The Mental Health Professional assesses, plans, develops, coordinates, and provides treatment, rehabilitation, and support services to program clients with severe and persistent mental illness in natural community settings.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct family evaluations, including in-home observation and interviews, to assess family structure, dynamics, parenting skills, support systems, and previous agency contacts. Ensure competency in providing mental health services to the program's patient population(s).
  2. Participate in the development of the treatment plan and case management to ensure proper and appropriate treatment.
  3. Provide telephone and in-person crisis intervention to families during scheduled and non-scheduled hours to ensure crisis services are available.
  4. Meet with community service providers to ensure appropriate service delivery, participate in inter-agency case reviews, and coordinate meetings for inter-team consultation to maximize community resource use.
  5. Document assignments and interventions in progress notes, treatment plans, and daily logs to maintain a complete record of client care.
  6. Demonstrate high standards of conduct professionally to ensure clients receive high-quality services.
  7. Establish good rapport with team members through training and supervision.
  8. Participate in required training sessions throughout the year and demonstrate knowledge of the Family Based Services model.
Physical and Sensory Requirements:

Must be able to sit for 2 hours total per day, stand for 8 hours, walk for 6 hours, and perform frequent stooping, bending, and reaching. Ability to handle objects up to 75 lbs and transport patients up to 250 lbs. Must have normal hearing, vision, and tactile senses.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in a mental health or human services-related field and at least one year of clinical experience.

Training and Experience:
  1. Interest and enthusiasm for working with troubled youth and families.
  2. Good decision-making skills.
  3. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  4. Excellent organizational skills.
