Job Summary and Qualifications

The Activity Therapist is responsible for providing expressive therapy services to patients as a member of a multidisciplinary team, in accordance with Live Oaks’ activity therapy work policy. Expressive therapy interventions focus on helping patients develop a stronger sense of self by promoting identification and expression of feelings through participation in the creation and sharing of personal work, including visual art, dance/movement, poetry, writing, drama, or music.

Specific Job Functions

• Complete activity therapy assessments.
• Provide group and individual expressive therapy sessions appropriate to client needs.
• Display professionalism in dealing with customers, staff and clinicians.
• Complete assignments in a timely manner.
• Complete documentation in a timely manner.
• Follow all hospital policies and procedures.
• Attend and participate in monthly activity therapy staff meetings.
• Attend and participate in weekly clinical supervision.Work with the interdisciplinary team in meeting treatment goals.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Bachelors Degree in Art Therapy, Music Therapy, or Recreation Therapy – REQUIRED.
• Certification within the specialty may also be required at time of hire (MT-BC, ATR-BC, or CTRS).
